PEDRO — Betty V. Besco, 83, of Pedro, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at a local health care center. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 4, 1927, the daughter of the late Marty and Edith Josephine Cooper Banks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Floyd Besco, who died in 1985.

Mrs. Besco was a homemaker. She was also a former foster grandparent and a volunteer worker for the Ohio Youth Center. She was a member of the Lawrence Furnace Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph E. Besco; a grandson, Samuel Long; and a sister, Mary Brown.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary “Kathy” and Jim Ebersbach of Willow Wood, Edith Fraley of Pomeroy and Joan Cline of Ironton; son, Paul F. and Beth Besco of Pedro; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Dalton officiating. Friends may call Monday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
