Democrat author must write with blinders on

Just when will Mr. Jim Crawford tell the whole truth in his articles? In some of his recent articles he has made mistake after mistake and here are a few of them.

First, in one article he stated that “corporate welfare cost over $550,000.” Well, by his own calculations he was off just over $500,000 per person, which would still be jobs in Ohio.

Second in the article of Friday 5/13/11, in his supposed interview with Rep. Boehner he neglected to say that Rep Boehner was a minority, the House and Senate were controlled by Democrats, not Republicans who could do nothing to stop them.

Third, he stated that the debt would be raised $5 to 6 trillion dollars over the next decade, which never happened in the history of debt.

Well, again this is false as under the present president the debt has gone up more than $4 trillion dollars in just 28 months and again he wants to raise it over another trillion dollars this year.

Once again a mis-statement of facts by another “loyal democrat” who likes to spout “half truths,” which he is good at.

Why doesn’t the newspaper have a Republican to repudiate the half truths of this man?

U.S. 23 Cleanup was big success because support

On behalf of the Ashland Alliance, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the many businesses, organizations and individuals that participated in our 13th Annual U.S. 23 Cleanup on Saturday, May 14.

Approximately 200 volunteers cleaned more than 50 miles of roadway and gathered more than 150 bags of trash. Our cleanup would not have been possible without the employees, members, friends and family of – Marathon Petroleum; Burnaugh Baptist Youth Group; Ashland Kiwanis; Ashland Breakfast Kiwanis and Key Clubs; Ashland Town Center; Knights of Columbus; East Greenup Kiwanis; Raceland-Worthington Key Club; Russell Middle School Builder’s Club; Jim Belt and the Greenup County Detention Center; Home Federal; Mayor Cheryl Moore and Citizens of South Shore.

We would like to thank the following businesses for sponsoring the cleanup: Eagle Distributing Company sponsored water; Boyd County Fiscal Court; Cintas Corporation; Citizens National Bank; DTR Inc.; Greenup County Fiscal Court; Kentucky Farmers Bank; Marathon Petroleum Company LP; MTWTire.com; Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital; ServPro of Southern Scioto & Lawrence Counties; Windstream Communications.

We would also like to thank the State Road Department garages in Boyd and Greenup Counties for providing safety vests, trash bags and for picking up the garbage following the cleanup.

As the Chamber of Commerce, we strongly support beautification projects because they enhance the quality of life in our community.
