Parade rule to be enforced

The parade officers and parade committed members want to remind everyone of Parade Rule No. 1 from the entry form that organizations signed to participate in the Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade.

It stated that all objects (candy, gum, flags, etc) must be handed to all spectators and not thrown or handed from a moving vehicle. Violation of this rule will be just cause for removal from the parade.

The committee appreciates your participation on this celebrated event as well as your generosity in “treating” the parade spectators. However, organizers do not want to see any accidents occur due to the children coming too close to a moving vehicle. There have been a lot of “close calls” over the years, but more than anything, organizers want to have a safe, accident-free Memorial Day parade.
