My name is Lance Cpl. Megan Southworth. I’m a Marine and currently deployed to Afghanistan.

I get on The Tribune’s website everyday to keep up to date with my hometown, which I miss very much.

I just thought it necessary to write and say what a good job you do of keeping everyone informed.

It’s comforting to be able to look at pictures and such of the place I’m from when I’m missing it.

Local business goes above and beyond for great cause

On Sunday, May 15, 2011 I attended the Blessing of the Bikes event at Beard Mortuary.

In spite of very dreary, rainy weather the mortuary staff did an absolutely excellent job of putting the event together to raise money for the Green Acres Regional Center.

All the bikers were very nice, the entertainment by Kala DeHart and Rivertown was first rate and the food was terrific. The blessing by Father Jim Sobus and Pastor Ron Burnsworth was appropriate and inspirational.

Kudos to Beard Mortuary and everyone involved with this event.

It’s great to see local business people willing to put forth the effort and think outside the box to help a very worthy cause.

I look forward to attending again next year.
