First BC to have July street fair
First Baptist Church of Ironton will host a street fair July 29 and 30 at the church. The proceeds will go to the church’s Faith and Fitness Center.
“Right now, we’re about a half million dollars in debt (for the fitness center) and we’re trying to raise money and pay it off quicker,” Faith and Fitness Center President Mike Dickess explained. “And this is a way for people to get together and enjoy each other and help the church.”
Plans are in the works for a cake walk, a fish pond and other games, a dunking booth, a chinese auction, inflatables for the kids, crafters and food booths as well as music.
Church member Joyce Caskey, who is helping plan the fair, said Irish Town will play July 29. Throughout the fair, the church’s music talent will also be on display.
The fair will be 11 a.m.-11 p.m. each day.
The Faith and Fitness Center was built in 2009 for both church and community events.
Dickess said both the faith and fitness center and the fair are opportunities for fun in a Christ-centered environment.
