Work on drain pipe nearly complete

IRONTON — City-contracted workers are nearly finished with the installation of a new stormwater pipe in the area of Eighth and Ashtabula streets, Mayor Rich Blankenship said.

A worker from Southern Ohio Trenching said Wednesday the storm drain had been installed and the crew is working to clean up the area.

A section of Eighth Street between Wyanoke and Ashtabula streets should be opened by this evening, the mayor said. The road had been dug up to make the repair. The road will be paved again when the surface settles, he said.
