FLATWOODS, Ky. — Barbara J. Eicher-Howard, 76, of Flatwoods, passed away from this earthly life Tuesday June 7, 2011, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital and is now in the presence of her lord and savior.

Barbara was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Ironton, to the late Harold and Bernice Mooney-Eicher. She was a graduate of Ironton High School class of 1952. She was employed with Crawford Transport and was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flatwoods.

Besides her mother and father, Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Tommy Jerald Howard.

Surviving are two daughters, Tammy Roberts (Larry) and Jerolyn McCarty (Jim), both of Flatwoods; three granddaughters, Melissa Mitchell (Ryan) of Raceland, Tabitha Reeves (Brad) of Flatwoods and Brittany McCarty of Lexington; two grandchildren, Noah and Titus Reeves both of Flatwoods; two brothers, Ronnie Eicher of Columbus and Raymond Eicher of Ironton; and one sister Penny Jiles of Ironton.

Funeral services will be held at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods on Friday at 11 a.m. with words of comfort and reassurance delivered by Brother David Daniels. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Family and friends may call on the family today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Tommy and Barbara Howard to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
