COAL GROVE — Frieda Schmidt, 81, of Coal Grove, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Jo-Lin’s Health Center in Ironton.

She was born May 2, 1930, in Superior, Ohio; she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lilly (Krumm) Besco. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Coal Grove.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Schmidt whom she married Jan. 9, 1949; one son, Charles Schmidt II; one sister, Anna Christian and one brother, Fred Besco, Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Ellen (Wayne) McGlone of Lancaster, Ohio, and Nancy (John) Smith of Ironton; two grandsons, Michael (Pam) McGlone of Helena, Mont., and Andrew B. Schmidt of Lawrence County; four granddaughters, Melissa (Chad) Galioto of Leighton, Utah; Sarah Smith of Miamisburg, Kristen (Tim) Humphrey of Lawrence County, and Kimberly Schmidt of Lawrence County; one great-granddaughter, Caitlin McGlone; one great grandson, Brendan Galioto and a daughter-in-law Jacqueline Schmidt; she was also a loving babysitter of the Waldo girls.
