ASHLAND, Ky. — Benicca (Ben) Pierpoint Blankenship Hern, 93, of Ashland, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at Woodland Oaks Health Center.

She was born Jan. 28, 1918, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Effie Mae Brown Pierpoint.

She was retired from Allied Chemical as a cook. She was a member of Storms Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded by her husband Hobert Hern, one brother Gilbert Pierpoint, and three sisters Mildred Boggess, Helen Brokaw, and Edna Bowman.

Survivors include two sons and daughters in-law Bennie and Kay Blankenship of Ironton, Hobert (Hobie) and Glenda Hern of Russell; one step daughter, Kay Maynard of Raceland Ky.; eight grand children, and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral will be noon Thursday at. O’Keefe –Baker Funeral Home. Kenny Hurst will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
