KITTS HILL — Jerry D. Barnhart, 58, of Kitts Hill, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Ironton native was born Dec. 20, 1952, the son of the late Jake and Margaret (Hieronimus) Barnhart. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Beverly Barnhart.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by a daughter, Dee-Dee (Mike) Skeens of Kitts Hill; a very special granddaughter that he loved dearly, Cassidy Skeens also of Kitts Hill; a sister, Freda Carpenter of Coal Grove; several nieces and nephews and many friends and family.

Jerry was a 1970 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He worked 27 years at Allied Chemical and also worked at AK Steel. Jerry was a member at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. He enjoyed restoring antique cars many of which were featured in various car magazines, but his pride and joy come from being a loving husband, dad, grandfather and friend to everyone.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Ironton.
