CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Church of the Nazarene will have a yard sale and auction with proceeds going to support its senior adult ministry.
The yard sale starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 with lunch at 11 a.m. Then at noon there will be the auction.
“There is a lot of furniture items, a lot of gift cards like from area restaurants,” Charles Bell, director of the adult ministry, said. “We have 66 gift cards from restaurants and grocery stories. And people have been donating a refrigerator, end tables, vases.”
Each month senior citizens from the church and the village go on a sightseeing trip.
“Last year we took a trip to Blenko Glass and went to the Huntington Museum of Art,” Bell said. “One December we went to Columbus to see the Christmas lights. We take a lot of people who don’t go to our church who are from the community.”
On Aug. 19, the group will go to the Adena Mansion and Gardens in Chillicothe and the Hopewell Indian Mounds.
“I try to keep them active instead of them just sitting at home,” Bell said.
The yard sale and auction will be in the church’s fellowship hall beside the church at 817 Third Ave.
