John McClellan

John E. McClellan, 74, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. He was born Dec. 17, 1936, the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Hefner) McClellan. John was a 1955 graduate of Ironton High School. He was a member of Central Christian Church and a Union Iron Worker local#769 Ashland, Ky. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #198 Ironton, Lawrence County Scottish Rite, Order of Amaranth-Minerva Court 31, and a 32nd degree Mason Valley of the Cincinnati Scottish Rite.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Dee and Dorothy Palmer and two brothers-in-law, Bernard Malloy and Richard (Dick) Barton.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Kay McClellan; one daughter, Kristi (Lee) Cade of Newark; two sons: Mark (Tracy) McClellan of Ironton and John (Mary) McClellan of Ironton; one sister, Vivian Malloy of Ashland, Ky.; one brother, Charles “Sonny” (Sue) McClellan of Ironton; six grandchildren, Bradley Wheeler of Ironton, Mark (Heather) McClellan II of Ironton, Erik McClellan of Los Angeles, Calif., Karissa McClellan, Emily McClellan, and Lydia McClellan, all of Ironton; two great-grand children, Bryson “Harley” Kearns and LillyAn McClellan; and two sister-in-laws, Pam (Larry) Romine of Ironton and Donna Barton of Coal Grove.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. today with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. and Scottish Rite immediately following.
