PINE GROVE — Nick Saunders took medalist honors to help lead the Gallipolis Blue Devils to the Ironton Invitational golf tournament championship on Monday at the Ironton Country Club.

Saunders carded a 68 on rounds of 32 and 36. Teammate Rob Canady had a 71 as the Blue Devils finished with a 302 team score.

The Chesapeake Panthers were runners-up as Nick Duffield tied Canady for the second lowest individual score at 71. Seth Waggoner and Drew Oxley each fired a 74 for the Panthers while Eric Sias and Andrew Saunders each shot a 92.

Ironton’s Josh Zornes was the team’s only entrant in the tournament and finished with a 77 on rounds of 37 and 40. He tied for seventh individually along with Coal Grove’s Conor Markins and Brent Morgan.

West Union was third with a 325 score and Coal Grove was fourth at 341. Coty Davidson shot an 86 for the Hornets, Brandon Adkins 101 and Jacob Myers 105.
