FRANKLIN FURNACE — Ethyle Edna Blizzard, 84, of Franklin Furnace, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, while surrounded by loving family and friends.
She was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Sciotoville, a daughter of the late Fred and Dolly (Bevins) Osborne.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Leonard M. Blizzard; a son, John Henry; a brother, John Osborne; and a sister, Elva Williams. Married on July 24, 1942 in Ironton, she is survived by nine children; six sons, Leonard (Carol) Blizzard; Paul (Peggy) Blizzard; Arthur (Eugenia) Blizzard; Carl (Brenda) Blizzard; Wilford (Becky) Blizzard; and Thad Blizzard; three daughters, Rose (Phil) White; Bonnie Karshner Ruse (Ron); Audrey Yarnell (Jim Stamper); her sister-in-law, Evelyn Osborne; 17 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Powellsville Mission Church, where she served as past treasurer, since 1953, and the Wheelersburg Eastern Star Chapter No.516.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Nelson Klaiber officiating. Interment will be at Clapboard Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. An Eastern Star service will be held at the funeral home 8:30 p.m. today.
