Doris Davidson

Doris Kathryn Davidson, 91, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at a local health care center. The Hanging Rock native was born Feb. 3, 1920, the daughter of the late Floyd and Thelma Barr Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John B. Davidson.

Mrs. Davidson was a 1938 graduate of Hanging Rock High School and a homemaker. She was a former pianist at several churches for many years. She was a member of the Christian Baptist Church in Ironton and attended Hanging Rock Nazarene Church. She and her husband were founders of the Sunshine Four Quartet.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Stewart.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Carl Richard and Ruth Davidson and John Michael Davidson all of Ironton; three grandchildren: John Michael Davidson II and his wife Stephanie of Ameila, Melissa Sampson and her husband Troy of Ashland, Ky., and Timothy Lee Davidson and his wife Lisa of Ashland, Ky; six great-grandchildren: Shane Michael Davidson, Alana Martin, Nathaniel Reese Davidson, Noah Timothy Davidson, Austin Hunter Davidson, and Brooke Alyssha Davidson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hanging Rock Nazarene Church, 400 Main St., Ironton, with Rev. William Kouns and Pastor Frank Stidham officiating.
