Miriam Hafle

Miriam Hafle, 91, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at the Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Sept. 21, 1919, the daughter of the late Henry and Maude (Haynes) Hafle.

In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by two brothers: Stan and Donald Hafle, and one sister, Virginia Hafle.

Miriam was a 1937 graduate of Ironton High School. She also worked and retired after 30 years of service as a secretary at the Dayton Malleable. Miriam was a member of both City Mission Church and First United Methodist Church of Ironton. Miriam was a devoted Christian and active member of her church. She spent her whole life dedicated to her Christian faith and community, teaching Sunday school and playing the piano for many years.

Miriam is survived by two nieces: Lorna Krible of Ironton and Donna (David) Dillard of Richmond, Va.; two nephews: Ralph (Ilene) Hafle of Little Rock, Arkansas and Tom (Betty) Hafle of Frederick, Maryland; 11 great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at City Mission Church, 710 N. Fifth St., Ironton with Pastor Jim and Jeff Cremeans and Rev. Dr. Wayne Young officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home on Wednesday.
