HAMLIN, W.Va. — Five finalists will face off to compete for the United Way Idol 2011 title.
The United Way Idol 2011 finalist contest, presented by the Lincoln County Summer Stage and United Way of the River Cities, is Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
Audience members voted for contestants during the preliminary and semifinal rounds on July 4. The finalists will compete for the 2011 United Way Idol title by opening for national recording artist, Sean Patrick McGraw. The United Way Idol 2011 will perform as the opening act at the Fall Festival on Sept. 3 for the Audio Outlaws.
“This event is all about family fun,” said Cassey Bowden, director of resource development and marketing, United Way. “Being able to connect with folks and watch them showcase their talents has been a great experience. This event also provides us with an opportunity to let community members know what services are available in addition to the work they are making possible with their participation.”
Guest judges will offer comments and feedback to each performer. Audience members can purchase voting slips for $1 in order to vote for their favorite finalist. All proceeds from United Way Idol 2011 will benefit United Way of the River Cities.
