Charles Robinson

Charles H. Robinson, Jr., 82, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. The Ironton native was born Oct. 27, 1928, the son of the late Charles Hall Sr. and Addie (Sanders) Robinson. Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Avanelle (Taylor) Robinson. Charles was a 1946 graduate of Ironton High School. He worked as a millwright for Armco where he retired in 1991 after 32 years of service. Charles was a 50-year member of the Lawrence Lodge #198 F&AM, a 50-year Scottish Rite member and member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Ironton. He was also accomplished in woodworking. In addition to his wife Charles is survived by two sons, David (Charlene) Robinson of Ironton and Jim (Mary) Robinson of White Springs, Fla.; and one daughter, Cheryl (Bill) Hughes of New Orleans, La. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Williams and Helen Townsend; one son, Frederick Richard Robinson; and a great grandson, James “Everett” Robinson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Strawn officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to First Baptist Church Ironton Faith and Fitness Center, 304 S. Fifth St. Ironton, OH.
