We the members of Coal Grove Lions Club would like to thank the merchants and companies who provided gifts and prizes for our first Car Show and Cruise In at the Dawson-Bryant High School parking lot on July 2.

First we would like to thank the Dawson-Bryant Board of Education for allowing us to use the facilities.

Second, we would like to thank The Tribune for writing two nice articles about this event.

Community support will help children at Shriners

El Hasa Shriners Hillbilly Clan #1, Outhouse #8 had the 1st Annual Hillbilly Cook-Off for Kids July 2.

A huge thank you to all who supported and helped us to raise $2,400 for Shriners Hospital for Kids.

The cook off consisted of anything to do with smoked hog. We had eight cooks and the smell of the smokers filled the air!

Congratulations to Chet Hoops from Brookville for bringing home 1st place and the $500 prize. He cooked up a fabulous hog then topped it off with deep-frying it for some daggone good eatin’.

And then thanks to homeboy Ed Lambert from Ironton, who smoked a wonderful hog and bringing home second place $200 prize.

We all had a great time and had some great vittles. Once again, thank you all for participating in our fundraiser and contributing to our donation for Shriners Hospital for Kids.

See you next year.
