Tickets for the Wheelersburg at Ironton football game on Friday are currently on sale at the Ironton High School Auto Tech Shop — see Janet Priode — and at Bob Linn Sporting Goods.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students. Reserve seats are also available for the game and the rest of the season.

Ironton city school student season passes are also on sale for six home games at $12.

‘Meet the Redmen’ night scheduled for Thursday

The Rock Hill Redmen annual “Meet the Team” will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the high school stadium.

The band will take the field at 6:30 p.m. followed by the introduction of elementary football players and cheerleaders, middle school fall sports and then the high school fall sports athletes.

A practice will be held outside the Conley Sports Center at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24.

OVC volleyball plans

preview on Saturday

The Ohio Valley Conference volleyball preview will be Saturday at Fairland High School.

The first of three games begin at 1 p.m. The first game is River Valley vs. South Point followed by Coal Grove and Chesapeake and the final game is Rock Hill vs. Fairland.

Admission is $5.

SOC volleyball preview

Aug. 27 at Lucasville

The Southern Ohio Conference volleyball preview will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at 11 a.m. at Lucasville Valley High School.

The schedule of matches is: Valley vs. Western, Wheelersburg vs. Notre Dame, Oak Hill vs. Symmes Valley, Northwest vs. New Boston, Portsmouth West vs. Sciotoville East, South Webster vs. Portsmouth Clay, Minford vs. Green and Waverly vs. Eastern.

Admission is$5.

Flyers’ season soccer, volleyball passes on sale

St. Joseph Flyers season soccer and volleyball passes will go on sale starting Friday and continue until Thursday, Sept. 1.

Passes are $35 for adults and $15 for students. Passes will be on sale in the high school principal’s office.

first QB Club meeting

The Huntington Quarterback Club and head coach Doc Holliday will kickoff the Marshall football season with its first luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the team meeting room at the Shewey Athletic Building.

Fans may park in the west parking lot adjacent to Edwards Stadium. Cost is $12 for quarterback club members and $15for non-members.

St. Joseph golf scramble scheduled for Sept. 17

The St. Joseph boosters’ annual golf scramble will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at Diamond Links Golf Course.

Fee is $50 each. Prices will be awarded and lunch is provided. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

OHSAA basketball

officials’ class planned

The Ironton Chapter of Basketball Officials in conjunction with the Ohio High School Athletic Association will conduct an officiating class beginning on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Chesapeake Middle School.

Classes will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturdays through November when testing will be completed.

The class consists of rule interpretation, mechanics and live scrimmages scheduled at area high schools.

Fee is $125 and covers all costs and testing except for the students OHSAA approved uniform.

Rio Grande benefit golf

scramble set Aug. 28

RIO GRANDE — The University of Rio Grande men’s and women’s basketball programs will be hosting a golf scramble on Sunday, August 28 at Franklin Valley Golf Course in Jackson, Ohio. The four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

“A” Flight will have cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place while “B” Flight will have gifts awarded for 1st and 2nd place.

The cost of the four-person scramble is $40 per person for 300 Club members and $60 per person for those who are not 300 Club members.
