Deborah and Paul “Danny” Smathers of Willow Wood, and Larry and Beverly Childers of Florida, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Courtni Rae Childers, to Ryan Lee Thomas, son of Debra Thomas of Ashland, Ky. and the late Glen E. Thomas.

Her grandparents are Bob and Betty Pennington of Hanging Rock.

His grandmother is Eunice Evelyn Abrams of Ashland.

The bride-to-be is a 2009 graduate of Rock Hill High School and she attended ACTC and is presently working at InfoCision in Huntington.

The prospective groom is a 2009 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and is presently working as a manager at Charley’s Steakery at the Ashland Town Center Mall.

The wedding will be at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 17, 2011, at Freedom Baptist Church in Kitts Hill. Music will begin at 3 p.m.

An open church wedding will be observed.
