HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Freshman Rakeem Cato has been named Marshall’s starting quarterback for Sunday’s season opener at West Virginia.

Thundering Herd coach Doc Holliday announced Cato as the starter during his news conference Tuesday in Huntington.

Cato edged out sophomore A.J. Graham for the starting spot. Graham is a holdover from Mark Snyder’s coaching tenure.
