Thomas Harold Thompson

COAL GROVE — Thomas Harold Thompson, 62, of Coal Grove, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at his residence.

The Huntington, W.Va., native was born Dec. 11, 1948 the son of the late Harry Eugene Thompson and Eldred Adkins Thompson. He was the husband of Pearl Alline Newcomb Thompson whom he married in 1978.

Mr. Thompson was a graduate of South Point High School and attended Marshall University and graduated from Saint Mary’s School of Nursing.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a Christian. He was a retired registered nurse and formerly worked at Saint Mary’s Medical Center and Lawrence County General Hospital.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Aaron Thompson and a sister, Donna Wilson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bryan Thomas Thompson of Deering; a daughter, Meagan A. Thompson of Huntington, W.Va.; a daughter, Brittany L. Thompson of Huntington, W.Va.; a son, Zebadiah T. Thompson of Coal Grove; six grandchildren; two aunts, Eloise Simpkins of Huntington, W.Va., and Linda Ford, of Ironton; an uncle, Earl Adkins of South Point and two cousins who were like brothers, Jimmy Adkins and Chippy Adkins.

A memorial service will be at a later date. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
