William Barker

William Lee Barker, 54, of Ironton, died Sept. 2, 2011, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.

William was born May 13, 1957, in Ironton, a son of Phyllis Irene Vanderhoof, of Ironton, and the late Jack Lee Barker. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Barker.

He is survived three sons, William C. (Sarah) Barker, Derrick (Melanie) Barker both of Ironton, and Scott (Angie) Barker of Ashland, Ky.; one sister, Rhonda (Michael) Kidd of Ironton; 12 grandchildren, B.J., Ethan, Halee, Madison, D.J., Holee, Chaz, Craig, Chase, Savannah, Rachel, and Madison; 4 nieces, Brooke, Amber, Leah and Amanda; and special friend Carrie Payne.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Roger Friend officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of William Lee Barker. Robert Williams

Robert Cody Williams, 21, of Ironton passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2011.

The Huntington, W.Va., native was born July 7, 1990. He is survived by his mother Tammy Sue Messenger Watson and her husband Carl, of Ironton and his father Robert “Vance” Williams and his wife Anita, of Wurtland, Ky.

He was a 2008 graduate of Ironton High School and worked for A&L Home Health Care of Ironton.

Robert was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Janet and Gene Williams.

In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister, Karlie Watson of Ironton; a sister, Gloria Williams of Wurtland, Ky.; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Spears of Kitts Hill; his maternal grandfather, Charles Spears of Ironton; maternal grandfather, Larry “Bo” Messenger of Ironton; an uncle, Rob and Tricia Messenger of Ironton; an uncle, Justin Spears of Kitts Hill; an aunt, Tina and Darrell Schwab of Kitts Hill; an uncle, Larry Messenger of Ironton; an aunt, Charla Love of Ashland, Ky.; an aunt, Dreama Wilder of Coal Grove; an uncle, Gene Williams Jr. of Columbus and an aunt, Valeria Williams Thuma of Batavia.

Pauline Fisher-Fields

Pauline McKnight Fisher-Fields, 93 of Ironton, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Monterey Care Center in Grove City after an extended illness.

She was born May 3, 1918, in Coal Grove, the daughter of the late Rev. Charles and Bessie McKnight. Pauline was a graduate of Coal Grove High School, Class of 1936, and was retired from J. C. Penney in Ironton after thirty-eight years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Frank W. Fisher; her second husband, Warren Fields and brothers, Kenneth, Bernard, Wilbur, Chester and Curtis McKnight.

Pauline had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving son and his wife, Charles and Linda Fisher; two devoted grandchildren, Vickie (Kemlyn) Yowell and Chris (Sandy) Fisher. She will be sadly missed by her three great grandchildren, Carly Yowell, Grace and Abby Fisher all of Grove City.

She is also survived by one sister, Phyllis (Lloyd) Richmond of Coal Grove and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Brad Jenkins officiating. John Elkins

WURTLAND, Ky. — John Morgan Elkins, 43, of Wurtland, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky. He was the husband of Melinda Brown Elkins, who survives. Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Raceland Worthington High School Gymnasium with the Rev. Mike Sargent officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Union Cemetery. After services, friends are cordially invited to the RWHS cafeteria for a time with the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.

Eula Click, 76, of Ironton, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

Gary Bowman Jr.

Gary Lee Bowman Jr., 43, of Ironton, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 in Raceland, Ky.

He was born Dec. 20, 1967 in Lawrence County, a son of Carolyn Bowman and Gary Lee Bowman Sr. He was a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lee Bowman and his paternal grandparents, Helen and Willard Bowman and his maternal grandmother, Estyle Graham.

In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister, Trina Bowman of Ironton; two brothers, Richard Bowman and his wife, Polly of Portsmouth and Mack Brown and his wife, Kimberly of Ironton and a granddaughter.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Donations may be made to Brown Funeral Chapel to help with final expenses. Doris Kelly

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Doris Ann Kelly, 73, of Huntington, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at 10th Avenue Church of God. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio.

Eleanor Dickson

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — Eleanor Lucille Dickson, 86, of Barboursville, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio, with Pastor Eddie Gandy officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
