Gary Lee Bowman, Jr., 44, of Ironton, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, in Raceland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 20, 1967, the son of Gary L. Sr. and Carolyn Graham Bowman.

Gary attended Rock Hill High School and was a self-employed mechanic.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Lee Bowman; his paternal grandparents, Helen and Willard Bowman; and his maternal grandmother, Estyle Graham.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Trina Bowman of Ironton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Polly Bowman of Portsmouth and Mack and Kimberly Bowman of Ironton; and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Brammer officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
