Roy Wilson

SOUTH POINT — Roy Vinton Wilson Sr., 79 of South Point, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born June 23, 1932, the son of the late Orville J. and Faye C. Bryant Wilson.

Mr. Wilson attended Ironton City Schools, and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed playing guitars, collecting miniature classic car replicas and loved old Westerns.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Wilson; two brothers, Ernest Wilson and Thomas Wilson; and two sisters, Sadie Maxie and Alice Crawford.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Wilson Jr. and Laura of South Point, Dennis Wilson and Brenda of Savannah, Ga. and Roger Wilson and Patricia of South Point; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy Ross and Bob of Huntington, W.Va., and Karen Wood and David of South Point; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Bocook officiating. Burial will follow in Crabtree Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Christine Menshouse

Christine (Criss) Williams Menshouse, 85, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Naples, Ky. native was born Feb. 28, 1926, the daughter of the late John Charles Williams and Lena Louise Farson Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Richard Menshouse, Sr.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine Dyke, Zola Williams, and Betty Bates; and one brother, Buck Williams.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, E. Richard Jr. and Rebecca J. Menshouse of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Curtis Stratton of Ashland, Ky.; brother-in-law, Fred Bates of Flatwoods, Ky.; a niece: Brenda Roberts of Russell, Ky.; four nephews, Danny Bates of Flatwoods, Randy Stratton of Grayson, Ky., David Stratton of Ashland and Doyle Stratton of Ashland.

Bill Erickson

COAL GROVE — Our sweet, loving Bill Erickson, 65, of Coal Grove, formerly of Minnesota, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and other loved ones. Bill leaves behind many loved ones including life partner Mary; and three stepchildren. There will be a private service held at home.
