COAL GROVE — Although the Coal Grove Lady Hornets got off to a tough start, the finished strong with a straight sets volleyball game win over the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers on Monday.

Coal Grove came from behind to win the first set 27-25, then won the next two matches 25-15 and 25-16.

Haley Johnson scored 19 points and had 12 kills to pace the Lady Hornets while Gabbie Carpenter scored 18 points.

In the reserve match, Coal Grove edged the Lady Tigers 25-22 and 25-23. Shae Willis had 16 points and 6 saves for the Lady Hornets. Ashley Collins added 11 points.

Coal Grove travels to River Valley on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for an Ohio Valley Conference match.
