HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Marshall Thundering Herd and Akron Zips will renew their football series with games in 2014 and 2016.

Marshall athletics director Mike Hamrick announced Wednesday that the Herd will visit Akron on Sept. 20, 2014, and the Zip will return the favor Sept. 17, 2016.

The two teams have met 12 times with the Herd holding an 8-4 lead in the series including wins in all six home meetings.

Marshall (1-1) plays at Ohio University (2-0) at 7 p.m. Saturday in game that will be aired on ESPN3.com
