William Stanton Nelson Jr., 71, of Ironton passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at The Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley.

The Ironton native was born Aug. 20, 1940, the son of the late William Stanton Nelson Sr. and Bertha Mae Wilson Nelson.

William was a 1958 graduate of Ironton High School. He was a production line supervisor for General Motors in Detroit. He was also a consultant, salesman and musician. He was a 50-year member of the Presbyterian church in Ironton.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Susan Myers and Jane Sloan.

William is survived by a nephew, Andy Sloan of Xenia; a nephew, Jim Sloan of Hobbs, N.M.; a niece, Leigh Ann Myers of Charlotte, N.C. and a brother-in-law, Edward Myers of Dayton.

Service will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
