Pointers rally past Panthers

SOUTH POINT — Danny Eckert’s goal off an assist by Michael Lien at the 88-minute mark completed the South Point comeback as the Pointers edged the Chesapeake Panthers 4-3 on Wednesday in a soccer game.

Each team scored a goal in the first half.

Brady Sloan had a corner kick that enabled Jeremiah Kipp to score at the 33-minute mark as the Pointers took a 1-0 lead.

But Aris Garcia scored an unassisted goal three minutes later as Chesapeake tied the score.

The Panthers gotthe first two scores of the second half to take a 3-1 lead, but Lien had a goal off an assist by Liam Huff at the 67-minute mark and then Lien tied the game with a goal at the 76-minute mark with Erin Dillow getting the assist.

Brady Rickard had five saves and Andrew Edwards three for the Pointers.

South Point (3-2-3) hosts Rose Hill at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
