The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., is seeking caregivers for its Medical Foster Home Program.
The program, which began last year, offers a safe, long-term home-like environment and an economical housing alternative for Veterans who are unable to live independently.
This program provides an alternative to nursing home care for Veterans who prefer a home-like setting. It is also a way for persons with an interest in caregiving to work in their own homes.
The program is currently looking for caregivers who are willing to take Veterans into their homes and provide 24-hour supervision as well as needed personal assistance.
Caregivers who live within a 40 mile radius of the Huntington VA Medical Center will be considered. The caregivers are paid monthly, with the cost of services being dependent upon the care needs of the Veteran.
Potential caregivers and those interested in additional information about the program may contact Trina Touchton, Medical Foster Home Coordinator, at 304-429-6755, ext. 2725 or toll free 800-827-8244, ext. 2725.
