Ironton’s Zornes 6th at Eagle Trace tourney

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Josh Zornes decided to get a test from the Kentucky side of golfers.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ senior golfer played at the Rowan County Eagle Trace Invitational on Saturday.

Playing among the Kentucky area’s top golfers, Zornes fire a 3-over 75 and tied for sixth place on the individual list.

Billy Tom Sargent of Scott County won with a 70. Zornes tied with Jackson Frame of Mason and Jeff Meade of Ashland.

Mason won the team championship with a 298 scored followed by Ashland at 315 and Lexington Christian and Bath County each shot a 318 to tie for third place in the 26-team field.

On Wednesday, Zornes fired a 2-under par at Shawnee State Golf Course in a quad-match against Minford, Portsmouth Clay and Portsmouth Notre Dame.
