Assistant Joe Miday will take over strength and conditioning duties on an interim basis.

Townsend was hired in June after spending the previous two years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Mississippi State.

Townsend had replaced Scott Bennett, who had been hired in January but lasted less than six months. And Frank Piraino left in January for a similar job at Temple.
