COAL GROVE — Slow start, fast finish.

Needing a big rally to win the first set, the Coal Grove Lady Hornets finished their volleyball match strong and stayed unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference with a three-set volleyball win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Thursday.

The Lady Hornets rallied to win the first set 27-25 and then won 25-16, 25-9.

“In game one we were down 18-5 and came back to win. The girls never gave up, “ said Lady Hornets’ coach Tricia Damron.

Haley Johnosn had 18 points and 12 kills to pace Coal Grove. Cheyenne Bellomy added 17 points.

Coal Grove (11-1, 6-0) visits Ironton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
