Drew Irvin broke free on a 26-yard scoring run with two minutes remaining to lift the Jackson Ironmen over the Ironton Fighting Tigers 28-22 on Friday night.

Jackson (7-0) went up 7-0 in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Austin Osborne.

Ironton used a 48-yard pass to Michael Lawless to set up a 2-yard run by Tyler Hager and Tyler Kratzenberg’s conversion pass to Lawless put Ironton up 8-7.

The Fighting Tigers (4-3) got a 70-yard run by Dion Brown to the Jackson 15 and Hager scored on the next play. Trevor White ran for the conversion and it was 16-7.

Austin Osborne returned a punt 33 yards to the Ironton 47 and six plays later Osborne hit Ty McNelly with a 34-yard jump ball touchdown pass and Jackson was down 16-14 with seven seconds left in the half.

McNelly’s 5-yard run gave Jackson a 21-16 lead midway through the third quarter, but Ironton answered with a 1-yard run by Hager as the Fighting Tigers regained the lead at 22-21 with 5:09 to play.

Ironton had 282 total yards — 209 on the ground — while Jackson had 294 yards with 212 coming on the ground.

Hager ran 15 times for 89 yards. Brown carried four times for 76 yards and caught two pass for 20 yards. Lawless had two receptions for 53 yards.

Osborne gained 102 yards on 25 attempts and Irwin 94 on 16 tries.

Fairland 39, South Point 0

SOUTH POINT — It was Maddox and Company.

Evan Maddox ran nine times for 129 yards and two touchdowns as the Fairland Dragons routed the South Point Pointers 39-0 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The Dragons (3-4, 2-0) ran 38 times for 313 yards. Nathan Campbellh ad 41 yards on six tries and two touchdowns, and Eric Riley ran for 38 yards on five attempts and a score.

Quarterback Kyle Sowards was 5 of 5 passing for 95 yards including a 26-yard scoring strike to Campbell.

South Point (1-6, 0-2) was held to just 94 total yards, all on the ground. R.J. McCarty and Curtis Jackson had 37 yards each rushing.

Fairland led 19-0 at the half and scored twice in the third quarter to lead 33-0 and seal the victory.

Symmes Valley 42, Sciotoville East 12

WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Vikings amassed 389 yards rushing and ran past the Sciotoville East Tartans 42-12 Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Alec Herrell ran 14 times for 168 yards and a touchdown while D.J. Miller carried 11 times for 102 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Vikings (6-1, 2-0).

Cody Belveal ran 75 yards on the second play of the game to give East (4-3, 0-2) a 6-0 lead, but the Vikings scored 39 unanswered points to get the easy win.

Jordan Fulford had the first of two 1-yard scoring runs as the Vikings took a 7-6 lead. Herrell then ran 61 yards for a score and Miller had TD runs of47 and 19 yards to put the lead at 29-6 at the half.

Miller’s 12-yard scoring run extended the lead to 36-6 after three quarters.
