The University Mart Clark’s Pump and Shop across from Ohio University Southern was the site of an attempted armed robbery Sunday evening.

According to a release from Ironton Police Detective Chris Bowman, an employee at the store reported a man came in demanding money.

“The cashier refused and the suspect fled on foot from the store without any money,” Bowman stated in the release.

The suspect is described as a white man, medium-build and six-feet tall. He has reddish brown hair and a scruffy beard. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a green fur-lined parka with a hood, black-rimmed glasses, blue jeans, black-colored boots, a dark-colored sweat shirt and a face mask.
