Lola Ide

Lola M. Ide, 98, of Ironton passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Ky. Lola was born on Feb. 14, 1913, in Wise, Va., to the late Trigg and Veda Fuller.

In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ide; two sisters, Ella Waddell and Lorrene Hall; three brothers, Bill Fuller, Don Fuller and Eugene Taylor; and two nieces, Pauletta Schultz and Mandy Taylor.

Lola is survived by a niece, Frances Ferguson of Huntington, W.Va.; two very special friends, Londa Stewart and Carolin McDaniels of Ironton; many other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends and neighbors.

Lola was a caring person that was demonstrated by her choice to become a nurse while serving others throughout her career until retirement.

Joseph Eastham

Joseph Clifford Eastham, 62, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Ky. He was born on Nov. 24, 1948, in Boyd County, Ky., to the late Joseph Clifford and Ollie Mae (Brumfield) Eastham.

In addition to his parents Joseph was preceded in death by one sister, Joann Shank; and two brothers, Clyde (Wookie) Woodrow Eastham and Alfred Cleveland (P.B.) Eastham.

Joseph is survived by one son, Joseph Michael (Stacie) Eastham; five daughters, Anna Denise (Preston) Skaggs of West Portsmouth, Cindy Jo (Danny) Krum of Ironton, Cheryl Dawn (Greg) Mougey of Ironton, Kimberly Michelle (Chad) Pemberton of Ironton and Becky Lynn Mckee of Flatwoods, Ky.; two sisters, Freda Pennington of Marion and, Wilma Jean (Jeanie) Aldridge of Marion; one brother, Chester Raymond (Ramey) Eastham of Ironton; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one very dear friend, George Munion (June Bug) of Ironton.

Joseph attended Ironton High School after which he joined the United States Army where he served two tours in the Vietnam War with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and earned two Purple Hearts. He was self-employed and a member of the Ironton Moose Lodge and the VFW Post #8850, Ironton.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home with Elder Glenn Jenkins and Brother Chad Pemberton officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home immediately following the service by the VFW Post #8850.  Interment will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Juanita Carter

Juanita Carter, 77 of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va. She was born Jan. 5, 1934 in Ashland, Ky., the daughter of the late Virgil and Edna (Lykins) Tackett.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Arthur Sr.; her second husband, Harvey Carter; one son, Chester Arthur, Jr.; one brother, William Tackett; and two sisters, Betty Kitchen and Mary Barrows.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Ronald) Browning of Coryville and Betty (Fred) Imes of Ironton; three sons, Donald (Carolyn) Arthur of South Point, David (Mary) Arthur of Ironton and Daniel (Tina) Arthur of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Tackett of Baltimore, Md.; and numerous grand-children and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Harold McKenzie officiating.  Internment will follow in LaGrange Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

Karen Johnson

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — Karen Sue Johnson, 60, of Barboursville, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was the wife of David Johnson, who survives. James Gambill

FLORENCE, S.C. — James Lee Gambill, 69, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, in a Florence hospital after an illness.

Mr. Gambill was born in West Virginia, a son of the late Durward B. and Corrine Littleton Gambill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and received his B.S. from Ohio University. Mr. Gambill was the owner/operator of Adena Sportswear in Florence. He enjoyed woodworking and was of the Lutheran faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Sue Bridges Gambill of Florence; four children, Lori Ann (Kevin) Owens of New Hampshire, Brandy Lynn (Joey) Norris of Florence, Heather Renee Gambill of Florence and Jonathan Lee Gambill of Florence; four grandchildren, Jenna Nicole Owens, Shayni Elizabeth Owens, Adrianna Corrine Walker and Stephen James Gambill; sisters, Betty Poulain of McClenney, Fla., Phyllis Russell of Middleton, Fla., Carol Pennington of McClenney, Fla., Faye Huddleston of Fairmont, W.Va. and Jean (Jerry) Sheets of Huntington, W.Va.; brothers, Larry Gambill of Middleton and Randy (Veronica) Gambill of Lake Worth Fla.; and 14 nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Florence National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donna Delawder

RUSH, Ky. — Donna Delawder, 68, of Rush, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. She was born on March 18, 1943, in Ironton, to the late Custer Delawder and Sara (Nance) Delawder Wise.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Delawder; one daughter, Margaret Prince; stepfather, Beldin Wise; three brothers, Custer Delawder Jr., Larry Delawder and Beldin Wise II; and one brother-in-law, William Igo.

Donna is survived by one daughter, Eileen (Wally) Green of Rush; two sons, Bill (Jodi) Delawder of Ironton and Doug (Ashley) Delawder of Rush; one son-in-law, Donald Prince of Ironton; three sisters, Eileen (Delbert) Jorden of Ironton, Joyce Igo of Ironton and Janet (William) Massie of Texas; one sister-in-law, Peggy Delawder of Ironton; and four grandchildren, Donna Mae Prince, Caitlyn Delawder, Adrianna Goble and Will Green.

Donna was a member of Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove and was a cook by occupation. Funeral service will be held at noon Thursday at the Tracy Brammer- Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. noon on the day of the service at the funeral home.
