Lady Hornets advance in sectional

The Coal Grove Lady Hornets opened Division III sectional tournament play with a hard-fought volleyball win over the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers on Tuesday in straight sets, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-19.

Gabbie Carpenter had 18 points and 8 kills while Bailey Harrison had 16 points and 8 kills to lead the Lady Hornets. Coal Grove will play at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Alexander.
