Elizabeth Collins

Elizabeth Alice Collins, 89, of Ironton passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Culloden, W. Va., native was born Nov. 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Howard and Hulda Meadows Kinder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Collins, who passed away Feb. 19, 1994.

Mrs. Collins was a former clerk for Baker’s Store and made donuts and pies for Lewis Bakery. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cake decorating and candy making. She was also a former employee for Wilson’s Sporting Goods where she made ball gloves. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Collins McCleese; three sisters, Dora Sesher, Ruby Call, and Bessie Koontz; three brothers, Calvin Kinder, Paul Kinder, and Benton Kinder; a daughter-in-law, Denise Collins and a grandson, Christopher Aaron Cartwright.

She is survived by a son, Roger Collins of Deering; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Donald Gee of Deering and Beatrice and Dale R. Stephens of Dayton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home, 509 South Sixth Street, Ironton, Ohio with Minister Todd Parsley officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Sharon Jarrell

SOUTH POINT — Sharon S. Jarrell, 70, of South Point, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 21, 1941, the daughter of the late Marshall L. and Anna Campbell Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Jarrell.

Mrs. Jarrell was a 1960 graduate of Ironton High School and was a self employed hairdresser.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Adrian Webb, Ralph Webb, Clyde Webb, and Ronald Webb and her sisters, Helen Stewart, Brenda McGraw, Ardith Barnes and Mildred Nickell.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Natalie S. and Donnie Rutter of Albany, Ohio; a daughter, Rena L. Jarrell of South Point; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Tom Toothman of Johnson City, Tenn/, Karon and Clarke Ketter of Lexington, Ky., and Beth Ann and Jim Cade of Heath; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William “Bill” and Lois Webb of Coal Grove, and Marshall “Buddy” and Mary Alice Webb of Arlington, Texas; her fiancee and friend, James Martin; two granddaughters, Shelli Roush and her husband, Tobby and Kelli Staten and her husband, Charles; four great grandchildren, Joann M. Blair, Cameron Roush, Chance Wooten, and Nikki Wooten.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Clarke Ketter, William Webb, Donnie Rutter, Tobby Roush, Trent Martin, and Marshall Webb. Jo Ann Adkins

MT. STERLING — Jo Ann Adkins, 60, of Mt. Sterling, died Saturday evening, Oct. 15, 2011, , at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital. She was born March 3, 1951 in Huntington, W. Va,, to the late Donald and Rose Ann Esque.

Jo Ann moved to Mt. Sterling 16 years ago from South Point, where she has previously been employed as a deputy jailor at the Montgomery County Regional Jail and as a security guard at A.O. Smith.

Survivors include; husband, Artie Adkins, Sr. of Ironton; one son, Artie Adkins, Jr. (Melissa) of Mt. Sterling; three daughters, Angie Woods (Stanley) of Mt. Sterling; Dawnetta McKenzie (Danny) of Florida and Tracy Adkins (Nicolai Braxton) of Mt. Sterling; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Esque, Jr.; one sister, Carrie Mae Ferrell and one granddaughter, Calissa Woods.

Betty Lee

DAYTON — Betty Lou (Knipp) Lee went to meet Jesus Sunday Oct. 16, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Garnett Lee of Dayton; her five children and their spouses, Bob and Jeanetta Lee of Pittsburgh, Pa., R. Scott Lee of Dayton, Ginger Kooser of Clayton, Russell and Mary Lee of Tipp City, and John and Kim Lee of Miamisburg; grandmother to Jenny and Ajay Kochhar, Josh and Sammy Lee, Lindsey Lee, Randy Lee, Ricky Lee, Rachel Lee, Steven Brotherton, Thomas Brotherton, Anthony Kooser, Benjamin Lee, Russell Lee, Windy Lee, Mary Kate Lee, Crystal Lee, Chelsey Lee and Zack Lee, Ricky Myers Jr., James Jones II; great grandma to Jordan, Shanti, Jackson, Bennett, Patience and baby boy Kochhar; lovingsSister to Calvin, Homer, David, Fred, Peggy, Glenna, Brenda, Alva, Tim, Tom, Phil, Debbie, Jean, Jane, Sabra, and Jim. Edward Stapleton, 82, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at King’s Daughter Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

Frank Christian

CEREDO, W.Va. — Frank Christian, 78, of Ceredo, formerly of Russell, Ky., died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at his home. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., by Pastor Charles Rice. Burial will be in Caroline Cemetery. Graveside military service will be conducted by the American Legion post 276 of South Shore, Ky. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today.

Lucy Bradford

RACELAND, Ky. — Lucy S. Bradford, 96, of Poplar Highlands, Raceland, Ky., died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky.

CHESAPEAKE — Katy A. Wright, 35, of Chesapeake, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
