Flora Marie Klaiber

Flora Marie Klaiber, 63, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.

The Ironton native was born Feb. 16, 1948, the daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie Barnett Butler.

Mrs. Klaiber was a graduate of Ironton High School, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ernestine Cronin and Bessie Butler.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Amy Klaiber, of McDermott; three brothers, Gene Butler, of Deering, Walter Butler, of Ironton, and Nathan Butler of Florida; a sister, Junie Thompson, of Ironton; and a granddaughter, Michelle Klaiber, of Ironton.

Funeral services with be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, with the Rev. Kenny Klaiber officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery. Beveran C. “Happy” Russell Sr.

Beveran C. “Happy” Russell Sr., 68, died at his home Friday, Oct. 21, 2011. He had been declining in health for the past two years.

The husband of Velan Adair Russell, he was born in Glen Alum, W.Va., and was the son of Kansas Ferrell Russell, of Franklin Furnace, and the late Hershel Russell. He was a 1962 graduate of Symmes Valley High School. He had been a resident of Deerfield since 1976 and prior to that had resided in Upper Pittsgrove Township.

Before his retirement, Beveran has been employed with the former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton, for over 30 years. He was a member of Fifth Ward Athletic Club and was an avid poker player and horseshoe player. He enjoyed the outdoors and cooking.

Besides his wife and mother, survivors include three daughters, Valerie Clark, of Bridgeton, Veronica Barker, of Fairfield Township, and Vicky Baxter, of Fairfield Township; two sons, Beveran C. Russell Jr., of Upper Deerfield Township, and Steven Holmes, of Cedarville; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Sammartino, of Vineland; three brothers, Greg Russell, of Franklin Furnace, Brent Russell, of Upper Pittsgrove Township, and Doug Pemberton, of Franklin Furnace; three sisters, Beverly Terry, of Franklin Furnace, Diane Greeson, of Washington State, and Marsha Fisher, of Franklin Furnace; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean McGaha Russell.

Funeral services were held at Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, with the Rev. John Rodgers officiating. Burial was at the Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Pittsgrove. A visitation was held at the funeral home prior to the service. Ralph David “Sonny” Classing

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — Ralph David “Sonny” Classing, 79, of Crossville, Tenn., died Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Franziska (Nurnberger) Classing.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Ironton. In lieu of flowers, family members request donations be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 10088, Knoxville, TN 37939

Gary (Frank) James

Gary (Frank) James, 54, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Hall.
