Thomas Beard
SOUTH POINT — Thomas Arlyn Beard, 77, of South Point, husband of Pricilla Leighty Beard, passed away due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease at the Emogene Dolin-Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va., on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011.
He was born on May 22, 1934 in Chesapeake, a son of the late Gilbert and Fern Whitehead Beard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Annie Beard and Jan Fisher. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Henry) Cooke; sisters, Gilberta Ferguson, Jane Tyree, Sally (Bert) Lester and Judy (Jim) Gibson; brother, Charles (Donna) Beard; grandchildren, Gus (Chandra) Cooke, Becky Fisher and Bethany Cooke; great-grandchildren, Kacie Mendez and August Cooke; special friends, Vernon and Delkenia Mills; and his special furry friend, Shep. Mr. Beard was a teacher and administrator in the South Point School District for many years.
He was the long-time announcer for South Point sports and Special Olympics, for which he was awarded a lifetime achievement award. He was also responsible for starting the girls track program in Lawrence County and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huntington where he was a member of the choir.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Paul Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Irene Robinson
LARGO, Fla. — Irene Saunders Robinson, 88, of Largo, formerly of Bidwell, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, in Largo.
She was the daughter of the late John E. and Effie Cremeens Saunders of Lecta.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Willard Robinson; daughter, Peggy Crabtree, brother, Charles (Helen) of Ironton; sister, Hazel White of Ironton, and sister Betty Gilmore of Kitts Hill.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Omar, Vernard, Edward, and Ray Saunders, and one sister, Mildred. Graveside services will be Monday in Largo.
Peggy Fuller
FORT MITCHELL, Ky. — Peggy Cook Fuller, 88, beloved wife of the late Don Fuller, dearly loved mother of Sherida (Joseph) Dougherty, and revered grandmother of Heath (Stephanie) Battrell and Morgan Battrell, passed away at her daughter’s home in Ft. Mitchell Oct. 10, 2011.
She was a former resident of Ironton and Ashland, Ky. Peggy worked as a secretary at Armco Steel in Ashland during WWII, and until her 1947 marriage to Don (who passed away Aug. 13, 2011) after which she devoted her life to her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ashland and was a Kentucky colonel.
Visitation was at 11a.m. – 1p.m. Oct. 14; services were at 1 p.m. on that day at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, Ky. Entombment was in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Dewey LeMaster
FLATWOODS, Ky. — Dewey Walden LeMaster, 71, of Flatwoods, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Merritt Island, Fla. He was the husband of Barbara A. Brown LeMaster, who survives. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kilgore United Methodist Church by Rev. Fred Wyles and Rev. Jeff Lambert.

Donald Moore
MILTON, W.Va. — Donald Moore, 78, of Milton, formerly of Elkins, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. There will be private family services at a later date. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville.
