Margie Dickess

Margie S. Dickess, 63, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Lawrence County native was born April 30, 1948, the daughter of the late John H. and Birdie Nunnally Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Dickess Jr.

Margie attended Deering Schools and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herman L. Wilson and five sisters, Abis Adams, Esther Roach, Ruby Clement and two infant sisters.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul “Michael” and Christy Dawn Dickess of Ironton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Ralph “Pat” Patterson of Coal Grove and Treva and George King of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandson, Aaron Michael Dickess and a great granddaughter, Reagan Michelle Rose Dickess.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Beals officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery. Paul York

SOUTH POINT — Paul David York, 72, of South Point, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Bryant Health Center.

Paul was born Feb. 28, 1939, in Ironton, a son of the late Rev. Roosevelt and Clara Kibby York. He attended South Point High School and Christ Temple Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

He is survived by three daughters, Lisa York of Adrian, Mich., Pam (Nicole) Yorksmith of Florence, Ky., and Janet (Mike) Craig of Cincinnati; four brothers, Les (Pam) York and George (Debbie) York all of South Point, Tim (Chris) York of Florida and Ted (Katie) York of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; seven sisters, Honey (Dick) VanScoder of Canton, Levedha (Virgil) Kessinger of Okeechobee, Fla., Margaret (Bob) Scyoc, Beverly (Larry) Crank and June (Doug) Freeman all of South Point, Delores (Bill) Martin of Ashland, Ky., and Jean Freeman of Flemingsburg, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Zakk Boyd, Rebecca Craig, Tori Craig and Grayden Yorksmith.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, with Pastor Kevin West and Dick VanScoder officiating. Burial will follow. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, is in charge of arrangements and is honored to have been chosen to serve Paul’s family. Roger Saunders

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — Roger K. Saunders, 50, of Spotsylvania, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathy Saunders; two sons, Keith Saunders and Spencer Saunders, both of the home; his mother, Shirley Saunders of Ohio; one brother, Jeffrey Saunders and his wife Marlene of Florida; five sisters, Peggy Caudill and her husband Ronnie of Ohio; Cheryl Woods and her husband Jim of Georgia, Mary Cohron and her husband David of Florida, Jami Jewell and her husband Dale, and Ruth Cade and her husband Doug, all of Ohio. Roger is also survived by his mother-in-law Eliza Jenkins of Spotsylvania, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Carl E. Saunders, and his sister, Nancy Sweeney.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Found and Sons Funeral Chapel-Cremation Services chapel with the Reverend Jim Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania. A visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral chapel. Robert Bradford

Robert “Rob” Alan Bradford, 63, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at his residence. A private funeral mass will be conducted at Christ the King Cathedral in Lexington, Ky. Bob Shavor

PROCTORVILLE — Bob Shavor, 81, of Proctorville, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at River’s Bend Health Care. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Kelly Hensley

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Kelly Sue Hensley, 41, of Huntington, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was the wife of Robert Hensley, who survives.
