Lucy Crisp

Lucy B. Crisp, 76, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Greenup County, Ky., native was born Feb. 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Will L. and Maggie L. Moore Crisp.

She attended Greenup County Schools and was a former housekeeping supervisor for the Hilton Hotel in Detroit, Mich., until her retirement. She was a former member of Honeywell Baptist Church, a member of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and a member of the Veterans Administration.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Crisp and Millard Crisp and three sisters, Stella Chapman, Della Rucker, and Goldie Crisp.

She is survived by two sisters, Ella Joy Stapleton of Ashland, Ky., and Lydia Keelin of Rochester, Mich., and a brother and a sister-in-law, Charlie and Linda Crisp of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Murphy and Pastor David Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Doris Bailey

Doris S. Bailey, 78, of Ironton, formerly of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at a local health care center.

The Ironton native was born Jan. 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Alfred Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Bailey.

Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Ironton High School and a former bookkeeper and bank teller for Lincoln Savings and Loan, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. She was of the Pentecostal faith, enjoyed attending Bible study groups and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Carrie E. Smith; a granddaughter, Allie Mae Sanders; a sister, Patsy Layne and a brother-in-law, William Cooper.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. and Kim Bailey of Radcliff, Ky.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Janet Bailey of Ironton; a daughter, Tina E. Bailey-White of Ironton; a granddaughter, Denise D. Bailey-Bruton and Dave of Wheelersburg; a granddaughter, Bethany R. Bloomfield and Jason of Coal Grove; a grandson, Charles Bailey and Shanon of Rineyville, Ky.; a grandson, Robert Bailey and Heather of Ironton; a grandson, David Bailey of Rineyville, Ky.; nine great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce and David Woodard of Lebanon, Ind., and Jean Cooper of Springfield; a special cousin, Terry Fields and Raymond of Flatwoods, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Brenda Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Max Kirkpatrick

KITTS HILL — Marion “Max” Kirkpatrick, 84, of Kitts Hill, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.

The Marlinton, W.Va., native was born Aug. 12, 1927, the son of the late French and Anna Virginia Richards Harmon. He is survived by his wife, Patty Lee Tribble Davenport Kirkpatrick.

Max was a graduate of Marlinton High School and a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. He was a 48-year faithful member of the Mamre Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, mission board member and a member of the XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) Club. He was a former shift foreman/process operator for Ashland Oil/Marathon Petroleum, retiring after 37 years of service. Max was a volunteer fireman for the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Department, an active member of the Rock Hill Band and Athletic Boosters, former president of Rock Hill National Little League and a 4-H Club chaperone in Lawrence County. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sisters, Mildred Sharp and Mable Gum, Caroline Kirkpatrick and Charlotte Kirkpatrick and his twin sister, Maxine Kirkpatrick and a set of twin sisters that died in childbirth; a brother, James Kirkpatrick and his first wife, Wanda Kirkpatrick.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Teresa Kirkpatrick of Kitts Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Andrea Kirkpatrick of Crab Orchard, Ky.; a step-son and his wife, Michael and Lana Davenport of Ashland, Ky.; a step-son and his wife, Jeff and Beth Davenport of Covington, Ky.; a step-son, Clif Davenport of Birmingham, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, Staci, Tyler, Luke, Kristian, Karli, Lauren, Nathan, Mitchell, Laura, and Aaron, and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Mamre Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Ryan McKee, Jeff Davenport, and John Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Aid Cemetery. Paula Richmond

COAL GROVE — Paula Faye Richmond, 58, originally of Coal Grove, passed quietly away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va., following an extended illness.

Paula was born with cerebral palsy, a crippling disease that left her unable to walk, talk, feed herself and chew. Paula was a special gift from God to her loving family and touched the hearts of everyone she met.

Paula is survived by her devoted parents, Lloyd and Phyllis Richmond; her sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Dennis Smith of Barboursville, and her niece, Kelsey Koch, also of Barboursville.

Paula spent much of her life at ResCare in Chesapeake, a residential service providing support and care to people with developmental, cognitive and intellectual disabilities. During the past 25 years, Paula was given loving care by Liz Letsche and Michele Carter. Paula’s family would like to publicly thank the administrators, nursing staff and caregivers of ResCare for their loving kindness they shared with Paula.

 

God Took Her To His Loving Home

God saw her getting tired, a cure was not to be.

Roberta Freeman

SOUTH POINT — Roberta F. Freeman, 78, of South Point, died Tuesday, Nov.8, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington, with Dr. Scott Mann and Pastor Terry Noble officiating. Burial will follow.
