IRONTON — An Ironton man was injured Monday night after he apparently stepped in front of an oncoming vehicle near the intersection of Walnut and South Third streets.
Robert Womack, 42, of 918 S. Fifth St., was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center. He has since been discharged.
Ironton Police Sgt. Pam Wagner said Womack was attempting to cross the street after dark and walked into the path of a sport utility vehicle driven by James Moore, of Township Road 253, Ironton.
Wagner said Moore was not injured in the incident and was not cited. Wagner said Moore was also not impaired but police, who are investigating the accident, say that suspect Womack may have been impaired.
The accident happened just before 7 p.m.
