Mitch Carey

Mitch P. Carey, 52, of Ironton, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. The Ironton native was born June 4, 1959, a son to the late John (Peabod) and Sharon (Clark) Carey.  He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cheryl (Bruce) Carey. Mitch was a 1977 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School.  He went on to work as owner and operator of Carey’s HVAC.

He also attended Zoar Baptist Church and was led to the Lord by Dr. Kevin Willis during his junior year of high school.  He was also a member of the Tri-City Cycle Club.  Mitch loved life and enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his farm, restoring antique motorcycles, playing with his grandson, Liam and riding his Harley-Davidson. Mitch served a five-year apprenticeship and became a licensed sheet metal jouneyman/mechanic.

In addition to his wife, Cheryl, Mitch is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Travis Lee (Aubrey) Carey of Ironton; a grandson, William (Liam) Carey of Ironton; a brother and sister-in-law, John (Garri) Carey of Coal Grove; a mother in-law, Columbine June Bruce of Forestdale, Fla.; a sister and brother in-law, Stephanie (Kent) Branch of Ironton; three nephews, Tyler and Trent Branch of Ironton and J.R. Carey of Coal Grove; a niece, Jessica Carey of Coal Grove; and a host of friends, classmates and co-workers

In addition to his parents, Mitch was preceded in death by a father in-law, Glen Edward Bruce; a paternal grandfather, Leonard Carey; paternal grandparents, Frank and Carrie Adkins; a cousin, Daniel Joseph Carey III; a special grandmother, Jessie Faye Childers; and maternal grandparents, Hubert and Alma Clark

Funeral services will be noon Friday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Willis and Rev. Jim Beals officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m Thursday at the funeral home. Leon Wilson

WILLOW WOOD — Leon Ross Wilson, 57, of Willow Wood, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was the husband of Karen Wilson, who survives. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Friday

 

Mack Ellis

PROCTORVILLE — Mack Ellis, 49, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va., Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

Judie Thornton

CHESAPEAKE — Judie Thornton, 62, of Chesapeake, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was the wife of Douglas “Doug” Thornton, who survives.
