Mary Bundy

One of God’s favorite and faithful servants, Mary Evalee (Wise) Bundy, of Ironton, Ohio, age 87,widow of John C. Bundy, passed from this life, Friday Nov. 18, 2011.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret (Hughes) Wise; a son, John (Jackie) F. Bundy; two sisters, Eileen Walden and Rebecca Buckley; four brothers, Raymond, Oliver, Dean and Harlan Wise and one great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by three sisters-in law, Edith Moore, Carrie Harmon and Mabel Gee; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Walden, Floyd Newhouser and Paul Bundy.

Following high school, Mary started her working career as the top stenographer for Col. Orr at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton. When WWII ended, she worked as a secretary for Ashland Oil in Ashland, Ky., and later as an office manager and income tax preparer for H & R Block in Ironton. Finally, she and her husband established and operated J& M Income Tax Service in Ironton where she prepared income taxes, thus helping thousands of people in the Tri-State area and from outside of the area for 40 years which included individuals, corporations and partnerships. Being a Bible scholar, studying God’s Word from early childhood, she instilled and taught the true meaning of God’s Word and His Spirit to her children, family and many friends.

Survivors include her three devoted daughters, Brenda Smith, Karen (John) Vickers, and Connie Bundy; two sons, Mark (Sue) Bundy and Ronnie (June) Bundy, all of Ironton; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Bundy of Columbus. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Amy (Scott Morgan) Smith, Brandon Smith, Mary Beth Vickers, Melissa L. Vickers Mark A. Bundy, Samantha Bundy and Todd (Amy) Bundy, all of Ironton, John S. and Ryan Bundy of Columbus, and Trevor (Amber) Bundy of Brook Park. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy Newhouser of Dayton, as well as five sisters-in-law, Fern Wise, Ironton, Ohio, Eula M. Wise, Angeline Wise, and Janie Wise, all of Springfield, Ohio; and Mona Bundy of Coal Grove, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Carman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no services or visitation. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date, by her daughters honoring her life, as she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and child of God. She will always be remembered for her never-ending sweet smile, as well as her kind and loving ways. To all who had the opportunity of knowing and speaking with her, considered it a privilege, honor and personal blessing, as she changed many lives with her wisdom & knowledge through her spirit from Jesus Christ, She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

 

Lester Tackett

FLATWOODS, Ky. — Lester Tackett, 93, of Flatwoods, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Oakmont Manor. He was the husband of Sylvia Maxine Preston-Tackett, who survives. Funeral services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Bro. Earl Marshall officiating. Entombment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland with military honors by the VFW Post 8850 of Ironton. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 

Joyce Crace

CHESAPEAKE — Joyce Ann Crace, 44, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of David Crace, who survives. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home. Fred Gool

OCALA, Fla. — Fred Gool, the son of Fred and Mary Frances Gool Webb died Nov. 11, 2011, at his home in Ocala.

Fred was a graduate of Ironton High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a foreman from Armco Steel.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Joe Eddy.

He is survived by sons, Brian (Linda) and Brent (Filomena) Gool and his grandchildren, Rachel Gool, Stephanie (Ryan) Meenach and Cody Gool; his step grandchildren, Megan Keaton, Seth Keaton and Nicholas Keaton and step great-grandson Brennan Keaton, and the mother of his children, Carol Gool. He is also survived by a brother, Larry (Marie).

Graveside rites will be performed at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodland Cemetery by Pastor Dennis Strong.

 

Peggy Burks

FLATWOODS, Ky. — Peggy Lou Burks, 83, of Flatwoods, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. She was the wife of Andrew “Toots” Burks of Catlettsburg, who survives.

Carrie Dickerson

ASHLAND, Ky.— Carrie Lynn Dickerson, 56, of Ashland, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at her residence. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home.
