Proctorville resident Bob Smith will forever be most recognized for his distinctive voice and his visage that graced local television news broadcasts for many years. But, the man’s true legacy may be tied to his work as the director of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
In the three years since Smith took the position, the business organization has grown significantly, greatly expanding its membership, adding tools and resources for those members and focusing on the community impact the organization can make.
Smith is taking a three-month leave of absence to recharge the batteries and deal with some family health issues. This sabbatical is well deserved and has been well planned to ensure that the organization does not miss a beat.
The networking opportunities the chamber has already introduced will continue as will the community outreach, showcasing the county’s success stories and the other programs. Smith, working hand-in-hand with executive director Bill Dingus, has been a tremendous asset to Lawrence County and its business community, trying hard to find out what businesses need and how to offer it.
For a job well done, he certainly deserves the short break knowing that he will return to continue to help move Lawrence County forward and position us well for the future.
That type of impact will go on long after all others.
