Phyllis Peslis

Phyllis Faye Scott Peslis, 81, passed away Sunday, December 11, 20011 in Ironton, Ohio after an extended illness. A long-time resident of Huntington, W.Va., she was preceded in death by a son, Philip Louis Peslis, her husband, James T. Peslis, and two brothers: William Scott and Jack Scott.

Born in Logan County, W.Va., to Mallie and Dixie Scott, she graduated from Big Creek High School in War, W.Va., and was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Huntington. She had been employed by St. Mary’s Hospital, Cabell Huntington Hospital and in the offices of the late Dr. William Hayman.

She is survived by her son Christopher Peslis, of Washington, D.C.; her sister, Nada Smith, of Virginia; and by her brothers Norville Scott, Glen Scott and John Scott and sisters Ellen Brinkley and Peggy Scott, all residing in North Carolina.

A recital of the rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Klingel-Carpenter Funeral Home in Huntington, after which family will receive visitors from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Huntington, with burial at Spring Hill Cemetery. After the services, there will be a reception at the Huntington Knights of Columbus Hall hosted by her sister-in-law, Ann Aluise. Barbara Witt

Barbara Witt, 77, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Dec.12, 2011, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

She was born Jan. 5, 1934, to the late Clark B. Warren and Anna Catherine (Speck) Warren-Addis. She was also preceded in death by her husband Russell Witt and her step-father Joseph Addis.

Barbara was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ironton, where she was active in many ministries and the Social Outreach Program.

She is survived by one brother, Clark P. (Barbara It) Warren of Price, Utah; two daughters, Rae Ann (Dr. Bradley) Richardson of Huntington, W.Va., and Kristi (Karl) Wentz of Ironton; two granddaughters, Amanda (James) McFann of Kitts Hill, and Kathryn Deer of Ironton; four great grandsons, Chase and Caden McFann of Kitts Hill, and Landon and Levi Deer of Ironton; one very faithful companion, Sassy.

Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor David Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Sue Reynolds

RACELAND, Ky. — Tlitha Sue Reynolds, 63, of Raceland, Ky. died on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at home. Funeral will 10 a.m. until noon at the Evans Funeral Home in Raceland with internment to follow at the Mills Cemetery in Inez, Ky. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the hospice or cancer center of your choice.

 

Dorothy Maddy

Dorothy Maddy, 87, of Ironton, died Monday, Dec. 12 at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

Danny Christian

CHESAPEAKE — Danny Ray Christian, 54, of Chesapeake died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at home. He was the brother of Lisa Ferris, who survives. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville. There will be a private family memorial service at the Sybene Missionary Baptist Church in South Point.
