PROCTORVILLE — Depth got the Fairland Lady Dragons where they wanted to be.

The Lady Dragons used their team depth to overcome unemotional play as they routed Cross Lanes Christian 68-32 in the semifinals of their own holiday tournament.

“We didn’t have a lot of emotion and we didn’t play consistent,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

“Our depth helped us tonight. When we have some kids who aren’t playing at the level where we think they should be playing, We have some other kids who can take their place.”

The Lady Dragons will now play Point Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the championship game. Point Pleasant beat Buffalo-Putman 57-52 in the first game.

Terra Stapleton scored 17 points to lead a Fairland offense that had 13 of their 16 players score.

Ericka Beller had 12 for Cross Lanes.

The Lady Dragons dominated the glass 62-34. Stapleton had 13 rebounds and Jaimie Phillips grabbed 11.

“Phillips didn’t have big numbers, but that was probably the best game she’s played in two years,” said Buchanan. “She’s just getting back to where she was (before her knee surgery).”

Stapleton scored half of Fairland’s points as they took a 20-6 first quarter lead.

Kayla Swiger had 6of her8 points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 38-16 at the half.

The Lady Dragons held Cross Lanes to 3 points in the third quarter to lead 50-19.
