WAYNE, W.Va. — Anything you can do I can do better.

That seemed to be what the Chesapeake Lady Panthers were saying as they beat the Wayne Lady Pioneers 65-53 on Monday.

“Wayne girls always play real hard. We matched their intensity,” said Chesapeake coach Chris Ball.

Amanda Ruffner did more than match Wayne’s best effort as she had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots to lead the Lady Panthers (4-3). Jordan Porter added 15 points and 12 rebounds.

“Sarah Rice did a great job defensively on (Sam) Queen. She’s a good 3-point shooter and Sarah held her to 4 points,” said Ball.

Paige Childers scored 18 and Shaina Hooks 14 for Wayne (2-3).

Ruffner scored 18 points in the first half as the Lady Panthers build a 32-22 halftime lead.

Chesapeake led 47-34 after three quarters and Porter scored 9 points in the fourth quarter to help stop the Wayne comeback big.

The Lady Panthers play at Symmes Valley on Thursday, Dec. 29.
